Kauri Bay Boomrock - VENUE REVIEW
Kauri Bay is one of Auckland’s best wedding venues and we always love to shoot there.
As wedding photographers, we have shot throughout New Zealand and we wanted to highlight some of our favourite venues. Here we review Kauri Bay Boomrock in Clevedon, 40mins south of central Auckland - it is a spot we love to recommend to our couples.
KAURI BAY OVERVIEW - GENERAL THOUGHTS
Kauri Bay is a purpose built wedding venue and it shows. They have thought of everything and every wedding we have shot there has been amazing. Great planning, great staff, the perfect spaces, food, activities and all the facilities you will need. It occupies an hilltop with an incredible classic kiwi view over farmland and ocean. We love this venue as photos here always turn out great - there are a range of spots we can go depending on the light on the day - and the big hill at sunset is always a winner.
CEREMONY LOCATIONS
Kauri Bay has the perfect backdrop for your ceremony - that iconic view. There are different seating options available from the team - wooden benches and stand alone wooden chairs. There are also arch options available - they have an awesome Manuka arch, or you can bring your own. If it’s raining there is a covered option with a beautiful fireplace. If it’s super stormy, the covered option can become fully indoors with pull down clear sides. You’ll see from the examples below that both look amazing so you will be winning no matter what.

PHOTOSHOOT LOCATIONS
There is no shortage of great photoshoot locations at KB. What makes it even easier is that they are all onsite and easy to get to. We love to spilt our photoshoots into two times - one main chunk before or after the ceremony with you bridal party, and a couple shoot with just the bride and groom at sunset. Kauri Bay is perfect for this. We will go on a little adventure around the property, with your bridal party and shoot a bunch of locations. KB can help with transport and a picnic for everyone.
Later on we can head up the hill to catch the soft light at the end of the day - sunset or no sunset it looks amazing.
ACTIVITIES
While you are off having your photos with your bridal party, Kauri Bay offers heaps of great activities to keep everyone happy and enjoying themselves. From giant jenga to driving range competitions, it’s a lot of fun.
RECEPTION
The reception/dinner space is amazing and can seat up to 200 guests. The hall is nicely designed with high ceilings and lots of rafters - which makes it perfect for adding your own touch. We have seen some florists and stylist go crazy and work some magic in there. The room can be set up in some many different options depending on how you want to do it. It’s a great spot for a very classy dinner party.

All things considered, Kauri Bay Boomrock is one of the best wedding venues in the Auckland area. The team and the space make things so easy and comfortable.
Capacity - up to 200 guests.
Transport - KBB requires you to bring most of your guests in on a bus as there is limited onsite parking.
Hire includes the use of the lodge for your ceremony and your reception. Your choice of arch for the ceremony, chairs, tables and pews. All cutlery, crockery, glassware, napkins and staffing for full table service. Lodge setup and cleanup, printed menus for your guests, management and coordination of your wedding from start to finish. Two meetings with your coordinator. A rehearsal at the venue, and a picnic hamper for your bridal party photos.
